Global approaches to early modern monetary history over the past decade have revealed striking new histories of money as a mode of governance, social relation, and economic institution. This colloquium brings together emerging and senior scholars of the monetary history of Japan, the Ottoman Empire, South Asia, Early America, and early modern Europe to discuss emergent commonalities and conflicts in the new history of money.
